The Origin Story
Changepoints did not begin as a digital product. It began as a question: If we understand why people behave the way they do in relation to energy, waste, and mobility, why do our policy interventions so consistently underperform?
The answer was a failure of translation. There was no structured, repeatable process for taking sophisticated social theory and turning it into practical strategy. Changepoints was built to close that gap.
Funded Research, Applied Practice
The methodology emerged from a series of funded research projects exploring how practice theory could be made useful to policy makers. That research was applied across organisations in government, industry and the third sector.
For many years, the primary public-facing output of this work was a downloadable resource. The toolkit can be downloaded as a pdf here historically, but we have now fully digitized it into the ChangePoints OS to reflect how sustainability teams actually work today.
